“Fiorentina always present a complicated match for Roma. They’re a good team, with very strong players and they played a great match against Inter.

“We will play a very difficult game; we need to be focused.”

However, he conceded Justin Kluivert was still not ready to return for the Giallorossi.

“He’s not ready, it’s better not to risk anything. We need to wait a bit more to let him recover completely.”

Leonardo Spinazzola was dropped against SPAL last time out, with the out-of-favour Alessandro Florenzi starting in his place…

“Spinazzola is well, it was a technical choice. I only think about Roma.

“I understand that there’s this problem [playing for a spot in the Euro 2020], but I’m here as the coach of Roma and need to think about what’s best for the club.

Roma were thrashed 7-1 the last time they travelled to the Artemio Franchi, so has Fonseca mentioned the result in his pre-game build-up at all?

“We didn’t speak about that match.”
