Several more leagues are following the original advice by playing behind closed doors, including Spain, France, Germany and Bosnia.

“There are things in life that are more important than football, and that includes health,” Fonseca told Spanish news agency EFE.

“Very important decisions will be made not just by individual leagues and Governments, but ought to be made alongside UEFA. We cannot stop Serie A and then play Valencia-Atalanta, for example.

“Involving UEFA will be very important for all leagues.”

Valencia-Atalanta in the Champions League kicks off behind closed doors this evening.

That is also meant to be the case for the Europa League Round of 16 with Sevilla-Roma and Inter-Getafe on Thursday.

There are growing doubts on whether the games can go ahead at all, considering Spain have just banned flights from Italy.
