Padelli and Marchetti banned

Inter and Genoa goalkeepers Daniele Padelli and Federico Marchetti earned one-match bans for insulting the referee, despite not even playing.

Both veterans were shown the red card as they sat on the bench during last weekend’s Serie A matches.

Padelli was dismissed from the touchline during the second half of Inter’s 2-0 defeat to Juventus, earning a one-match ban and a €5,000 fine.

Marchetti shouted an insult at the Fourth Official after their 2-1 victory away to Milan, which resulted in a one-game suspension and €10,000 fine.

Udinese were fined €5,000 for having an unauthorised member of staff present, who had also insulted the referee.

As all these games were behind closed doors, it was probably easier for the officials to hear precisely who was shouting abuse at them from the touchline.
