“My time in Udine ends here, after four wonderful years,” Fofana told La Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of the final match with Sassuolo on Sunday.

“My time in Udine ends here, after four wonderful years,” Fofana told La Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of the final match with Sassuolo on Sunday.
“The time has come to think about myself and choose a new destination. I am a football nomad, I’ve played in France, England and Italy. I didn’t think I’d come to Serie A, yet I stayed four years and may well remain here. It’ll be difficult to find somewhere I’m as happy as Udine. I’ve learned to appreciate every kind of pasta and Rolando Mandragora really spoiled me with some super mozzarella.
“I’ve played at Fulham and Bastia, but Udinese feels more like Manchester City. My choice will be a sporting one, not a financial one. I am seeking new objectives.”
Fofana has been compared to Paul Pogba, linked with Inter and Atalanta, and scored a tremendous solo goal to beat Juventus 2-1 a couple of rounds ago.
“That run from midfield was like a scene in The Last Dance, my final gem in the Udinese jersey. That goal shows all my character, as I took the ball and just went for it.
“Plus, I got some small revenge over Alex Sandro, who broke my leg three years ago…”
Udinese not only delayed the Juventus Scudetto party with that win, but also secured their own Serie A safety under coach Luca Gotti.
“The coach changed our season. He gave us confidence, thought of improving the team and every one of us. We realised that we had to play together and with more character.
“A coach has to be a guide, to understand how I think. Gotti spoke to me and he proved that he trusted me. Igor Tudor put me to one side, but he also humiliated me, said things that really hurt. It was tough, but I made it my strength and realised the team needed me.”
