The 23-year-old midfielder is in his second full season as a Giallorossi regular and has aided his team’s cause this term with 6 goals in 33 appearances.

“Without doubt I have a great feeling of pride,” Florenzi told La Freccia. “It is a dream come true.

“Roma have allowed me to improve and to become a professional playing for the team that I’ve always supported.

“I really couldn’t have hoped for any better. Now I just need to keep running and working in order to deserve to stay.

“I like playing wherever Rudi Garcia asks me to. I enjoy playing in all the different midfield roles.

“I am only concentrated on Roma. I follow other teams on television but only with critical eyes, not as a supporter.

“It’s part of my job and studying our rivals helps me learn and understand the movements of players who are more experienced than I am.”

The player then commented on Italy’s chances in the forthcoming World Cup.

“I don’t know whether playing England in the first game is good or bad. You need to do well right from the start, whether you’re playing an established team or one that is less experienced.

“There is no time to make mistakes, if you do that you can go out.

“We have a great group made up of the right mix of experienced players who are icons and young talents.

“I obviously hope to be a part of it.”
