Roma's Alessandro Florenzi says Italy 'want something important, but this won't do', whilst also discussing Coach Rudi Garcia.

The young midfielder is a certain call-up for Euro 2016 and an established starter for the Giallorossi, whom he already captained.

Roma's Alessandro Florenzi says Italy 'want something important, but this won't do', whilst also discussing Coach Rudi Garcia.

The young midfielder is a certain call-up for Euro 2016 and an established starter for the Giallorossi, whom he already captained.

“It's both an honour and a chore,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Wearing the armband gives you an extra responsibility, but it's also a source of pride.

“It was a dream I had ever since I saw [Francesco] Totti and [Daniele] De Rossi walking onto the pitch with this title.

“The next game against Bologna? [Coach Roberto] Donadoni changed very little, but he knew how to flick the right switches because the team picked up six points in two games.

“We'll be up against a driven team and it's going to be tough, but we must keep winning at all costs.”

Florenzi was then asked about Italy's target at Euro 2016.

“We're aiming for something important, but we mustn't be afraid. When we were leading 2-1 [against Romania] we should have done better to keep them from drawing, but we didn't.

“We allowed very few opportunities and we've always been punished. This won't do.

“Rudi Garcia? He's someone who always says things to your face and tells you straight when things are fine and when they're not.

“He's supportive and he had a great approach with all of us.”

Finally, the midfielder was asked about his feelings after the Paris terrorist attacks.

“We were told about that after our game [in Belgium] and we were immediately worried for the people we knew in France, and for [Salvatore] Sirigu's wife, who was there.

“These are things that nobody likes and that leave their mark. Let's hope it can all be resolved.”
