Alessandro Florenzi posted an emotional message after the Roma squad visited him in the clinic. “I’m a lucky man and player.”

The Italy international ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in October 2016 and was just days away from a complete comeback when he tore it again in training.

He underwent surgery yesterday and is expected to be out of action for another four to five months.

Before today’s Serie A game with Torino at the Stadio Olimpico, the entire team went to visit Florenzi at the Villa Stuart Clinic.

“I’ve discovered that I have many people who care for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone. Ale.”

They are also wearing special shirts today with Florenzi’s number, 24, on the sleeve.

“We are all Florenzi, he has donated a little piece of himself to us so he’s there with us on the field,” said Coach Luciano Spalletti.
