Alessandro Florenzi has admitted that he is surprised to have featured so heavily for Roma so far this season.

The 21-year-old returned to the capital in the summer after a spell in Serie B with Crotone and he’s become a first-team regular under Zdenek Zeman.

“I didn’t expect to play so much,” said the boy, who has scored twice in 16 League games for the Giallorossi, to Sky Sport Italia.

“But I was always sure that I could have my say in the team and I always give my best out there. I’m young and I want to improve by doing everything that Zeman asks of me.”

Roma will end the year with a home game against a rejuvenated Milan on Saturday.

“They are a great team,” Florenzi added. “If they beat us then they will overtake us in the table and that’s why we will fight tooth and nail.”
