Inter fans are unhappy with the imminent signing of Juan Cuadrado and there are at least five moments of his Juventus career that infuriated the Nerazzurri supporters.

The Colombian is expected to undergo his medical with Inter on Wednesday before signing a one-year deal with the Serie A giants.

His contract with Juventus expired on June 30. Inter ultras were so frustrated with his imminent arrival, that they showed up at the club’s HQ on Monday to protest. According to several sources in Italy, they want to meet the ex-Juventus winger before he signs his contract.

But why are Inter fans so furious with his the Colombian?

Cuadrado was often blamed for his attitude on the pitch and accused of being a diver. During his time at Juventus, he earned two controversial penalty kicks in games against Inter, infuriating the Nerazzurri supporters.

The first time was in February 2021 when the Colombian earned a spot kick in a Coppa Italia semifinal first leg at San Siro. Ashley Young pulled him back inside the box and referee Giampaolo Calvarese awarded a penalty kick to the Bianconeri after a VAR check.

Juventus eventually won 2-1 and reached the Final after a 0-0 draw in Turin.

Another similar incident occurred the following May when Cuadrado earned a crucial spot kick in a Serie A clash at the Allianz Stadium. The Old Lady, coached by Andrea Pirlo, were desperate for a win and the late penalty conquered by the Colombian for a questionable foul of Ivan Perisic helped the Old Lady get the three points. Calvarese was the referee of that game too.

It wasn’t the first time Cuadrado and Perisic argued during a Coppa Italia semi-final. The Croatia international put his hands around the Colombian’s neck during a semi-final in 2016 after suffering a foul.

In 2019, Cuadrado fouled Inter striker Alexis Sanchez during an international game between Chile and Colombia, forcing the Nerazzurri striker to the sidelines for three months.

The most recent incident occured in the Coppa Italia semifinal first leg at the Allianz Stadium this past April. Cuadrado was given a straight red card after being involved in an ugly brawl with Samir Handanovic and Romelu Lukaku following the final whistle.

The Colombian winger even tried to punch the ex-Nerazzurri goalkeeper and captain receiving a three-match suspension for Coppa Italia games. He already served a one-match ban in the return at San Siro leg last season, so he has two more left, which he will serve during 2023-24 with the Nerazzurri.
