Fiorentina are hoping to ignore the January transfer session. “I’d like to just sit and watch,” stated sporting director Daniele Pradè.

The Viola have been rather active this summer, but the official maintains the plan is to keep the squad intact until the end of the season.

“I hope there is no need to buy or sell in January,” the former Roma official told La Nazione. “My dream is to just sit and watch it unfold because we already know who we will be signing next summer.

“And that is no lie. That is the way we work. Planning is at the base of everything at Fiorentina so that we have the time necessary to close certain deals.”

To underline his point, Pradè revealed that talks to sign Mario Gomez from Bayern Munich this summer originated right at the start of 2013.

“The Gomez deal, like all the rest, began in the winter, during January,” he added. “There were no late or improvised moves.

“Remember this – a year ago we were thinking of getting Giuseppe Rossi who arrived in January. In that month, we began sorting out the July purchases…”

One player who Fiorentina did not sign this summer was Brazil and available QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

“We were not turned down by him because we never contacted him,” assured the Viola director.
