Marcos Alonso says he and his Fiorentina teammates need a ‘perfect game’ to overcome Sevilla in the Europa League.

The Viola are 3-0 down from the first leg, meaning they must score at least three to have any hope of making it to the final of the competition.

“Looking at how we played in the first half over there, I think we’re capable of turning the tie around,” Alonso insisted in the pre-match Press conference.

“Hopefully we’ll have a bit more luck than we did a week ago.

“Some people think that the team doesn’t believe we can do it, but we’ll give 100 per cent. With a bit of luck and playing like we did in the first half in Seville, we can do it.

“We have to play a perfect match, and approach it with confidence and optimism: we can’t afford any mistakes.

“In the first leg we faced a team which is on our level, I’m not afraid of anyone.

“My father [Marcos Alonso Peña] told me that when he was at Barcelona they lost the first leg 3-0 [to Gothenburg in the 1986 European Cup], then won the return leg 3-0 and reached the final.

“I hope I’m also able to tell my children that one day.”
