Fiorentina will be without Ciprian Tatarusanu for around two weeks, so Norberto Neto returns after a contract row.

The Romanian goalkeeper had already been in doubt before Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Torino and suffered a recurrence of his lumbago after that game.

A statement from the Viola website confirmed he will need 10 days of rest and treatment followed by another evaluation.

This means Tatarusanu will miss Thursday’s Europa League clash with Tottenham.

The only replacement available is Neto, who hasn’t played since he refused to sign a new contract in January.

He will be a free agent in July and made it clear he doesn’t want to stay in Florence, pointing out it was not a financial issue.

This made Brazilian shot-stopper Neto hugely unpopular with the fans, while President Andrea Della Valle and Coach Vincenzo Montella said they felt “betrayed” by his behaviour.

If Neto does start against Spurs at the Stadio Franchi, there will be a palpable air of tension between the goalkeeper and fans.
