Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli will remain out of action for eight to ten months following knee surgery, while Lucas Torreira suffered a hip injury.

The Uruguay international was forced off the pitch during the half time break of the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Juventus on Wednesday.

“ACF Fiorentina can confirm that Lucas Torreira was forced off the pitch during the match against Juventus with bruising on his left hip,” a club statement read.

“Diagnostic tests on Thursday morning revealed a grade one lesion on his transverse abdominal muscle. The player has already started his rehabilitation and physio programme and will be assessed in the coming days.”

On the other hand, Castrovilli underwent knee surgery on Thursday and will return to action at the end of 2022.

“The surgery required reconstruction of the anterior crucial ligament, sutures to the medial collateral ligament and lateral meniscus, and reconstruction of the medial capsule,” the club said in an official statement.

“The procedure carried out by Professor Mariani was a complete success. Gaetano will return to Florence in the next few days, where he will commence his rehabilitation programme. His recovery period is expected to take between eight and ten months.”
