Fiorentina will try to negotiate a lower fee for Lucas Torreira’s permanent move from Arsenal, but are running out of time due to a clause included in the agreement between the two clubs.

The Tuscans can sign Torreira permanently for €15m at the end of the season, but according to La Nazione newspaper, they must activate their clause before the beginning of the summer transfer window. This means that Fiorentina only have a few months left to secure the services of the Uruguay international on a permanent basis.

The paper confirms that La Viola will try to negotiate a lower fee with the Gunners and reveals that a meeting between club directors already took place in the last few weeks.

Torreira’s Fiorentina future in doubt: ‘Arsenal still upset for Vlahovic’

It remains to be seen if Arsenal will accept Fiorentina’s offer or ask the Serie A side to pay the full fee agreed last summer. The player’s agent Pablo Bentancur, revealed two weeks ago that the Gunners might not be willing to give a discount to Fiorentina because of Dusan Vlahovic’s collapsed transfer to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.

Torreira is eager to remain in Florence, but according to the report, he still has doubts regarding his salary at the Artemio Franchi for next season and the length of his potential new contract.

  1. Or maybe arsenal are unwilling to lower the price for a player they paid 35 millions just two years ago and that has showed this year that he is worth at least 15 millions easy.
