Italy international striker Mateo Retegui could be heading for Serie A, as it is reported Fiorentina have entered negotiations for the Inter target.

The centre-forward was born and raised in Argentina, but has decided to play for the country of his ancestors and already scored two goals in as many games for the Azzurri.

The 24-year-old is on loan at Tigre from Boca Juniors and the club has an option to make the move permanent, which will almost certainly be activated after he scored 11 goals in 20 games this season.

Inter were believed to be leading the way for Retegui, but now Tuttomercatoweb claim that Fiorentina have started direct talks with Tigre and the player’s agent.

The Viola are seeking a new striker, as Luka Jovic is expected to move on, while Arthur Cabral could also consider offers that come in this summer as well.

Fiorentina reached the Finals of the Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League, losing both games.
