Bologna coach Thiago Motta is now reportedly the new favourite to take the Paris Saint-Germain job after talks with Julian Nagelsmann collapsed.

Christophe Galtier was dismissed despite winning the Ligue 1 title and Nagelsmann had seemed to be a guarantee for the bench.

However, after weeks of negotiations, L’Equipe claim this evening that unless there is a sudden and complete turnaround, then Nagelsmann will not be the man leading PSG out next season.

L’Equipe mentioned the club was already in direct contact with their Plan B, who Relevo have now named as Thiago Motta.

The 40-year-old played for PSG as a midfielder from 2012 until his retirement in 2018, then started his coaching career in their youth academy.

After that, he moved to Italy with experiences at Genoa, Spezia and since September 2022 at Bologna, where he replaced Sinisa Mihajlovic.

The contract at the Stadio Dall’Ara runs to June 2024, but Bologna always knew it was possible he would move on this summer.
