According to calciomercato.com, talks over a new contract have been going on for a month and relations between the Viola and Simeone’s agents are excellent.

The club is said to be offering a one-year extension to the striker’s current contract which expires in 2022, with an increase to his salary.

There is no agreement on the figures, but it’s expected Simeone will be offered €2m per season, excluding bonuses.

However, the website also reports that there has been plenty of interest in the Argentine, with a €25m offer from Marseille rejected this summer.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on him for next summer, so when the contract is signed there will be an agreement that offers from top clubs will be considered.
