Reports have developed in recent days that the Italian Football Federation have selected the former Juventus” data-scaytid=”3″>Juventus Coach as their primary target to replace Cesare Prandelli.
Newly-elected President Carlo Tavecchio has confirmed talks and reports yesterday evening were of involvement from team sponsors Puma to help fund the tactician’s wage demands.
The Gazzetta dello Sport reiterate today that this is the situation and that it was borne from the FIGC’s desire to not only go above Prandelli’s net wage of €1.7m-a-year, but to actually pay slightly less, at €1.6m net, around €3.2m gross.
The pink daily suggests that Conte’s wage demands were set at €3.5m net, to match the amount he was receiving at Juve, and so the FIGC have turned to the sports clothing and manufacturers to help bridge the gap.
Negotiations with Puma reportedly began at a €3m annual figure, but that anything around €2.5m may be accepted. With an apparently more favourable tax return on payment German multinational fronting, it would ultimately amount to Conte’s net earnings being set between €3.5m and €3.6m.
Tuttosport believe that further talks by this afternoon may reach a final agreement between all parties for Conte’s appointment on a two-year contract.
