Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero reveals why he decided to appoint Walter Zenga to replace Sinisa Mihajlovic as Coach.

The former goalkeeper has arrived to take over from the Serbian, and the patron says it’s Zenga’s passion for the club which got him the post.

“I was struck by Zenga’s hunger,” Ferrero said, at the launch of his book.

“He’s someone who loves Sampdoria, after being our player and goalkeeper.

“He’s someone who loves Sampdoria, after being our player and goalkeeper.

“I chose him ahead of those like [Paulo] Sousa who act like people in the profession of football: ‘give me the job, and Sampdoria will win the Scudetto’.

“They’re all the same, all mouth and no trousers.

“Zenga came and he said ‘I’m hungry, I love Samp’. He’s a hard worked like Sinisa, he’s very similar to him and he can take us to the stars.”
