Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero dismisses talk of a takeover, as the club “is not for sale”, and says if it were serious, “you do it in silence”.
According to La Repubblica, an American group are in talks with Ferrero over a €100m buy-out, with Gianluca Vialli said to be involved.
However, Ferrero has wasted little time in ruling out a takeover, as he insists that he’s not in discussions with any party over a sale.

“Sampdoria is not for sale, not for those figures,” he told reporters. “It’s just people who want to gain attention.
“When you want to buy a team, you do it in silence. No speculation, just as I did when I bought Sampdoria and nobody knew until the announcement.”
Meanwhile, the Sampdoria President also joked about rumours that he will be in London next week to start talks over a potential sale.
“On Wednesday, I will take a selfie in Milan, as then you will see that I didn’t go anywhere.”
