Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero confirmed Joachim Andersen has joined Lyon “for €24m plus €6m bonuses,” but insists he could keep Samp and Palermo.

The paperwork is being signed this evening and a formal statement expected at any moment.

“I sold Andersen to Lyon for €24m plus €6m in bonuses,” Ferrero told Sportitalia this evening.

The patron has said he wants to sell Sampdoria and purchase Palermo, who took another big step towards bankruptcy this evening, but opened up the door to a different approach.

“My fans don’t want my anymore, they tell me to leave. And now they insult me too, because I said that I want to buy Palermo. However, I want Palermo, but also to maintain Sampdoria, just like Aurelio De Laurentiis runs Napoli and Bari.

“Obviously, if we were to receive an important offer for Samp, after five years of hard work, I would take that into consideration. The media have been telling me for three months that I’m selling Sampdoria within days.

“I had no meeting in London today, I met Gianluca Vialli the first year in Genoa, but there are no negotiations with him right now. (Vice-President Antonio) Romei met with people close to Vialli and I was in New York, but they offered me €45m and I turned it down. Sampdoria are worth €160-170m.

“Samp are a solid prospect, the club has no debts, shares the stadium with Genoa and we have good projects for the future.”
