Juventus met with Mauro Icardi to stave off competition from Napoli, according to Sky Sport Italia, as the Inter striker is opening up to the San Paolo.

The former captain is on the market after the total breakdown of his rapport with the club and new Coach Antonio Conte, but finding a new destination is proving difficult, even for a vastly reduced €60m price-tag.

Gianluca Di Marzio claims Napoli are ready to make the bid right now and meet Inter’s demands, as well as Icardi’s salary, but the Argentina international had until recently rejected the idea outright.

He had his sights set firmly on Juventus, although over the last few days, it seems as if he started to open up to Napoli.

This could well be the reason for Juve director Fabio Paratici flying to Ibiza for a brief meeting with Icardi and wife/agent Wanda Nara on Tuesday.

Paratici and Juventus urged Icardi to wait it out, as before making a commitment to Inter, they must first sell Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic to raise funds.
