The Games are being hosted by Rio de Janeiro this summer, and the attacking midfielder was called by Brazil for the football tournament.

However, as clubs are under no obligation to release their players for a non-FIFA competition, the Aquile are refusing to let Anderson go.

The 23-year-old has not turned up for the first two days of pre-season training, with the squad undergoing medical tests ahead of the training camp.

CalcioNews24 reports that Anderson is in fact not even in Rome, and has remained in Brazil in protest at the decision.

With new Coach Marcelo Bielsa arriving on Saturday, and the training camp beginning next week, it’s a tense situation between the Aquile and one of their star men.
