Milan CEO Marco Fassone notes UEFA haven’t actually decided on the voluntary agreement yet but some of their requests “are impossible to satisfy”.
It has been widely reported this morning that European football’s governing body will reject the Rossoneri’s request for a Financial Fair Play agreement, meaning they face sanctions for next season.
“It’s a surprise to us to read some news this morning,” Fassone told reporters as he arrived at the Lega Serie A.

It has been widely reported this morning that European football’s governing body will reject the Rossoneri’s request for a Financial Fair Play agreement, meaning they face sanctions for next season.
“It’s a surprise to us to read some news this morning,” Fassone told reporters as he arrived at the Lega Serie A.
“Going by the newspapers there has already been a decision from UEFA, who will meet tomorrow. I have the highest esteem and respect for the President of the commission.
“From what I’ve read, some information has leaked to the newspapers. UEFA made some requests which are impossible to satisfy, not just for us but for any club.
“We provided UEFA with very comprehensive documentation, Milan have shown great availability and we’ll accept any decision.
“At worst we’ll be going to discuss another agreement, but there’s no need for an early funeral.
“There’s no optimism, we’ve never talked. There’s total confidence that the decision will be taken in good faith, and it hasn’t actually been taken yet.
“I’ve been carrying this issue of the voluntary agreement forward for several months. If we don’t get a positive response, we’ll have to understand which clubs can actually take advantage of it.”
The Diavolo are looking to refinance a loan from Elliott Management which was used to enable the new Chinese owners to take control of the club.
If the American hedge fund isn’t paid back by October, they can take control of the club.
“The deadline we have is October 2018. We think we can do it by the spring, and that’s what we’re working toward.”
Milan are going through a difficult period of form in Serie A, with Vincenzo Montella sacked and Gennaro Gattuso replacing him as Coach.
“There’s an awareness that we’re going through a period of renewal and it’s complicated,” Fassone agreed.
“We want to face this transitional year with the maximum possible effort, in the hope it doesn’t take too long.
“Rino isn’t just looking for a mentality, but his own approach to games. It’ll take time, we’ll need four or five games to see results on a tactical and physical level. We’re confident we’ll see positive signs soon.
“The summer transfer campaign? We made one or two mistakes, but we’ve tried to correct those mistakes and I’m convinced we had a good transfer campaign.
“Those who aren’t doing what was expected will soon return to their levels.”
