Milan CEO Marco Fassone confirmed Ricky Kaka will “decide what to do” about his future before Christmas and explained their training retreat.

Kaka announced his retirement from football this week, but hasn’t yet made a decision on his future after a proposal to return to San Siro as a director.

“I spent an hour with Kaka and his Dad about 15 days ago,” revealed Fassone at a book presentation this evening.

“We exchanged some ideas on what he sees as his future and how we see the future of Milan. He has taken a month to decide what to do.

“I think we’ll certainly communicate again before Christmas, and not just to wish each other a Merry Christmas, but also to see if fairy-tales can last, continue, finish or perhaps return.”

The Rossoneri were put into an indefinite training retreat and their Christmas dinner cancelled after a shock 3-0 Serie A defeat to Hellas Verona.

“We got together with (director of sport Massimiliano) Mirabelli and (Coach Gennaro) Gattuso and discussed it. We realised it was not the right atmosphere for a celebration, so we decided to spend the next four days together ahead of Saturday’s game.

“This will help us to analyse the moment we are in, make the team understand what’s not working, get to know each other and talk, but we also had to pass on the message that the defeat with Verona cannot happen again.

“It is a strange Christmas, one with hard work, and this made us think it was right to start this training retreat.”
