The Coach who discovered Antonio Cassano at Bari claims Napoli starlet Lorenzo Insigne “will be even better.”

Eugenio Fascetti gave the teenage Cassano his Serie A debut, a 2-0 win over Inter in which the Bari-born striker scored, and has always been recognised as his mentor.

“Insigne played very well for Napoli against Inter on Sunday,” Fascetti told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“The fact he played like that in his first San Siro outing shows he’s got character. Lorenzo runs more than Cassano and is more generous with his teammates. He could mark a golden era in Italian football.

“I believe Insigne will be even better than Cassano. He is certainly better than Ezequiel Lavezzi, so Napoli did well to sell the Argentine.

“When I see a 20-year-old lad play like that at San Siro, which is like a young tenor performing at La Scala, I realise Insigne is destined for greatness,” continued ex-Bari Coach Fascetti.

“He is a world class talent and looks like he has been playing for a decade. If you don’t pass the ball to Edinson Cavani, then you’ve got grit.

“If you believe in young talent, then you’ve got to let them play. Just look at Stephan El Shaarawy at Milan, as he would never have found space had Zlatan Ibrahimovic not left and Alexandre Pato stayed fit.”
