Milan sent birthday wishes to Gigio Donnarumma through their official Twitter account, leaving most of their fans not impressed.

The Italy international turns 23 today and Milan shared a message for him on social media. That’s what they do with all their current footballers and most of their ex stars. Milan’s tweet was quite cold and formal but still triggered any kind of reactions from their fans on social media receiving over 1,000 comments in less than four hours.

Most of them do not seem happy with the club’s choice, given that Donnarumma left the club as a free agent at the end of last season, joining PSG.

Donnarumma admits he often talks to Pioli, reveals Milan’s farewell call

Donnarumma made his senior debut with the Rossoneri under Sinisa Mihajlovic in 2015, aged 16. He played six seasons with the Rossoneri conceding 265 goals in 251 games. Milan replaced him with Lille’s Mike Maignan in the summer. Although he is gone, many Milan fans have not forgotten how their former idol left and continue to call him a ‘traitor.’

Donnarumma explained his Milan exit in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport a few weeks ago.

“Everyone is blaming me, without thinking what happened on the other side. The last call from Milan was to tell me that they had signed another goalkeeper. That is how it ended,” he said.

  1. Those fans who are not impressed are stupid. He left and we never missed him, it’s not like we are missing a goalie after he left so, why can’t we just let go?

I wish Donnarumma happy birthday, long life and all the best in his career.

  2. Seriously, it’s about time Milan, Milan fans and Gigio got over this whole thing. The lad made a mistake, now he belongs to Paris, not Milan. Move on.

  3. As a Milan fan I’m not a fan of this move, but as a fan of La Nazionale, I do wish him a Happy Birthday. He’s gonna be between the sticks for Azzurri hopefully for a long time.

  4. It’s not about being missed or not, I certainly don’t miss him either, it’s about right and wrong. What he did was wrong, and we will never forget. Actions have consequences.
