Fiorentina were greeted by hundreds of fans at the airport after setting up a Coppa Italia semi-final against Dusan Vlahovic’s Juventus.
The Viola fought back from 2-1 down to beat Atalanta 3-2 with the last kick of the game in Bergamo, sealed by Nikola Milenkovic’s volley.
They were down to 10 men after Lucas Martinez-Quarta saw red, so it was a dramatic and determined victory.
Fans gathered at the airport to greet the squad on its return to Florence this evening and the chants showed they are already thinking about the two-legged semi-final against old rivals Juventus.
They were singing: ‘Anyone who doesn’t jump is a Bianconero.’
Vlahovic was insulted and even threatened by some Fiorentina ultras after leaving for rivals Juve in the January transfer window, so facing the Stadio Franchi crowd only a few weeks later is going to be an intense experience.
