Fans on social media are divided over Gianluigi Donnarumma’s culpability in Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League collapse.

The 23-year-old Italian goalkeeper made a calamitous mistake in the 60th minute of the 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid, gifting Karim Benzema his first of the game after being caught out with the ball at his feet.

Some fans have pointed to this mistake as being a key reason why PSG collapsed in the space of 17 minutes, allowing Los Blancos to book their place in the Champions League quarter finals, whilst others have pointed to the limited contributions of Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Other supporters have highlighted how the majority of the French side’s defence failed to perform up to standard, with Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos in particular having a disappointing match.

Milan fans have been overjoyed with Donnarumma’s struggles at PSG, still feeling painfully jilted following his departure on a free transfer last summer.

  1. Opinions on social media are divided??? I might have to sit down after hearing that. You could tweet ‘water is wet’ and 30 seconds later some fool would reply saying he read a study that says its dry.
