The President of Lombardy Attilio Fontana has claimed it could still be possible for spectators to attend Juventus-Inter in Serie A on Sunday.

The Italian government closed the door on six of the scheduled fixtures this weekend because of the coronavirus outbreak, but Fontana has now revealed that they will “evaluate” the situation on Saturday.

“I hope that from today there is a regression of the spread, then I will also go to watch Juventus-Inter,” he told RTL 102.5. “We are monitoring the situation. I’m very calm.

“I have no doubts about the positive outcome. We need to take a look at the situation. It’s like for the schools, we will check on Saturday and then we will decide.

“We have to understand if the trend of the outbreak is slowing down and maybe stops. When we have positive results along this aspect, our consultants, scientists and the health institute will give us the green light to mitigate and perhaps even revoke all the measures.

“We are the first who want to reduce them because they are damaging our economy and the serenity of our citizens.”
