A new disturbing report claims police are investigating doctors for falsifying medical reports from the death of Fiorentina captain Davide Astori.

The player passed away in his sleep in the team hotel ahead of a match with Udinese on March 4, 2018, aged 31.

The reasons for his sudden death have never entirely been clarified, as the cardiac irregularity had not been spotted earlier in medical tests.

Now La Nazione report police have started a new investigation around Professor Giorgio Galanti, the last medic to sign off on the certificate of fitness to play professional sport on July 10, 2017.

It’s suggested a document as part of that certificate process was falsified afterwards – on or around April 19, 2019 – to make it seem as if Galanti performed all the necessary cardiac stress tests, but they were not done at the time.

The report claims the paperwork was falsified by someone who collaborated with Professor Galanti and was working to cover his tracks.

This was allegedly done to help prevent a case of professional negligence being brought against him.
