Roma winger Iago Falque says Rudi Garcia did “a tremendous job” but “all Coaches must leave eventually”.

The French tactician was dismissed earlier this season after a poor run of results, with Luciano Spalletti returning to the Giallorossi as his replacement.

“Sometimes a change helps the players mentally,” Falque explained to Forza Roma.

“In the end all Coaches must leave eventually, he was unable to see out the season, but first he did great work.

“I wish him well, because he treated me really well, especially off the pitch.”

The former Genoa man then discussed Francesco Totti, with the captain’s future with the club uncertain.

“I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know him during these months I’ve been in Rome. The contract is a problem we hear about, but it’s not like we talk about it in the dressing room every day.

“For me it’s a pleasure to play alongside a player of his level. I hope he stays because of his history, because everyone at Roma wants him in the squad and because he’s earned it.

“These are things he and the President [James Pallotta] will have to talk about. They’re two intelligent people and they’ll do what’s best.”
