Alessandrini had been a very promising talent in the Roma youth academy until suffering a serious cruciate knee ligament injury in March 2007.
He was voted Player of the Tournament in the Manchester United Premier Cup ahead of Pescara – and future PSG – midfielder Marco Verratti and won the Scudetto for his age group under the guidance of Coach Andrea Stramaccioni.
Alessandrini never quite recovered his form and confidence, despite being a teammate of current Roma star Alessandro Florenzi in the 2009-10 Primavera squad.
His contract was not renewed and his career as a football player quickly evaporated.
