Rafa Benitez is back on the brink and newspapers suggest two former Inter legends are ready to take over after the Club World Cup.

Last night's 3-1 defeat to Lazio revived their crisis and with it reports of a Coach with his head on the chopping block.

“We are not out of the Scudetto race at all. We still have every chance of taking it from here to the end of the season,” insisted Rafa.

However, the Italian media claim Inter are already locking down options to replace the Spaniard if he fails to win the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi.

Walter Zenga was the goalkeeper at this club from 1982 to 1994, going on to management experiences at New England Revolution, Brera, National Bucharest, Steaua Bucharest, Red Star Belgrade, Gaziantepspor, Dynamo Bucharest, Catania and Palermo.

He is currently in the Gulf working with Al-Nassr.

Another option is Diego Pablo Simeone, who battled for Inter from 1997 to 1999.

He retired in 2006 to become manager of Racing Avellaneda, followed by Estudiantes, River Plate and San Lorenzo.

‘El Cholo' resigned from that latest position in April, so is a free agent.

Simeone led Estudiantes to their first Apertura victory in 23 years, then won the Clausura title with River Plate.

These are all thought to be temporary solutions, as President Massimo Moratti would like to coax Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola to San Siro next season.
