Leandro Greco has revealed the lure of Champions League football was a factor in his decision to leave Roma for Olympiacos.
The 26-year-old has been presented by the Greek champions following the completion of his transfer on Tuesday.
“I’m disappointed to leave Roma,” he told the assembled Press in the Greek capital as he displayed mixed emotions approaching his first campaign outside of Italy.

“I’m disappointed to leave Roma,” he told the assembled Press in the Greek capital as he displayed mixed emotions approaching his first campaign outside of Italy.
“However, when I was told that I would be sold then I tried to find an arrangement that would give me satisfaction – and at Olympiacos I will have the chance to play in the Champions League.
“I am pleased to have arrived here at a big club, not only in Greece but also Europe and, of course, this fills me with happiness.
“I will give 100 per cent to help the team reach its goals.”
The midfielder, who signed a contract extension with the Giallorossi earlier this year, was born in Rome and is a product of the outfit’s youth system.
He made 35 Serie A appearances for La Magica, including 19 last season.
Greco’s move follows the departures of forward Fabio Borini to Liverpool, Simon Kjaer to German side Wolfsburg and Brazilian defender Juan, as Roma look to rejuvenate its squad under new Coach Zdenek Zeman.
