Ukraine completed an extraordinary comeback from 2-0 down to beat North Macedonia 3-2 in Italy’s EURO 2024 qualifying group, while England flattened Malta.

The Azzurri had the month off from this particular tournament because they are in the Nations League Final Four, having played Spain in the semi-final last night.

They will face the Netherlands on Sunday afternoon for third place.

Meanwhile, England maintained their 100 per cent record in the EURO 2024 qualifying group with a 4-0 victory away to Malta.

North Macedonia had been leading 2-0 including a wonderful long-range curler into the top corner from Napoli midfielder Eljif Elmas and looked like scoring even more.

However, Ukraine clawed it back to 2-2 with two goals in a five-minute spell, then Visar Musliu received his second yellow card and Viktor Tsygankov won it late on.

This result means England have nine points after three matches, while Italy, Ukraine and North Macedonia are all on three points with two games played.

Italy have a goal difference of +1, compared to 0 for North Macedonia and -1 for Ukraine.
