Samuel Eto'o hints at locker room problems “that I'll keep to myself” leading to Rafa Benitez's failure at Inter.

The Cameroon international was interviewed on Italian television show Chiambretti Night, looking back at the Treble-winning campaign under Jose Mourinho.

“When you play football, the most important thing is to win,” said Eto'o.

“At a certain moment last season, we knew that we had to all give more. When Mourinho asked me to change my position, I tried and it went well.

“When you play football, the most important thing is to win,” said Eto'o.

“At a certain moment last season, we knew that we had to all give more. When Mourinho asked me to change my position, I tried and it went well.

“Mourinho's vision of Inter was different to the others. He is Number One and proved it.”

Successor Benitez lasted only six months and terminated his contract by mutual consent straight after winning the Club World Cup.

Many of the players have criticised Benitez in public and suggested there was not the same sense of unity that has been rediscovered under Leonardo.

“I do not agree with this way of seeing things. Up until the game with Juventus, we had played well.

“There are some things that happen in the locker room that I'll keep to myself. I thank Benitez, as he helped us to win two Cups and I thank him for what he did for us.”

Eto'o left Barcelona two years ago due to an alleged row with Pep Guardiola.

“Pep is a great Coach. We had some disputes, as happens in every side, but when I left Barcelona I had no remorse for what I did, on the field or off it.

“In fact, I am still in contact with Guardiola and Mourinho. With Benitez? No.

“I am richer not because of money, but because I made my dream come true,” said the Cameroon striker.

“God wanted me to do this and I won a great deal. Few black children have the good fortune I've had in my life, but we are fighting so that many more can have these opportunities.

“My foundation and that of Didier Drogba are working towards this aim.”
