Inter striker Samuel Eto'o claims he was very close to signing for Roma two years ago only for the deal to fall through.

The 29-year-old Cameroon international is widely regarded as the best centre-forward in the world.

He has scored 14 goals already this season in Serie A and the Champions League.

Appearing on an Italian TV show, Eto'o was asked by a Roma supporting presenter when he will leave Inter and play alongside Francesco Totti.

"I was close to signing for Roma two years ago, then everything vanished. Today I am happy where I am."

In a series of bizarre questions, Eto'o even had to turn down being offered to the presenter's aunt.

"I am already worried," he said. "My wife is a real panther."
