Former midfielder Stefano Eranio has claimed former sporting director Zvonimir Boban left his position just as Milan began to “see glimpses of light”.
The Rossoneri had climbed to seventh in Serie A and were fighting for a place in Europe next season when the current campaign was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
But despite having turned the season around, unrest was reported among the managers of the club and the former sporting director Boban publicly confronted CEO Ivan Gazidis and the decisions of the board.

He was later fired from his position and the rumours in Italian media has suggested that technical director Paolo Maldini could be the next to go.
Eranio, who spent five seasons at San Siro between 1992 and 1997, has claimed the duo had started something “positive” at Milan and was sad to see his former teammate leave his post.
“It’s a pity that he is no longer in the job,” Eranio told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Because with Maldini, he had started a positive path, albeit with some understandable mistakes.
“Zvone left the scene when he began to see glimpses of light.”
