Samuel Iling-Junior will not return for Juventus until after the World Cup in Qatar due to a slight ankle injury.

The English teenager joined the Bianconeri in September 2020 from Chelsea’s youth system in a deal worth around €130,000, signing a three-year contract.

Iling-Junior was handed his first team debut in the win over Empoli but truly emerged in the 4-3 Champions League loss to Benfica, providing an assist in his 20 minutes on the pitch. The 19-year-old provided another assist against Lecce yesterday.

As announced by Juventus, Iling-Junior underwent a round of medical tests this morning to examine the contusion injury to his right ankle. The tests confirmed that he hadn’t suffered a fracture and he’s expected to be ruled out of action for around 20 days.

With the World Cup break starting on November 14, Iling-Junior will have to wait until 2023 to return to action for Juventus. It’s a frustrating injury for the teenager, who was just starting to break into Massimiliano Allegri’s first team in Turin.
