The striker has been struggling for form this season leading to some rumours that the Rossoneri would be open to his sale in a coming transfer window.

Speaking to Forza Milan, Il Faraone has admitted that going a long stretch without scoring is impacting on him at a mental level.

“You end up thinking about it, it's inevitable,” El Shaarawy has considered.

“When you enter that kind of spiral, scoring becomes even more difficult and you risk being conditioned psychologically.

“When you're able to unblock yourself you pick up confidence, and at that point you go into the field with greater tranquillity.

“Scoring is fundamental for a striker. Over time you form rites and rituals that become almost subconscious.

“When I scored 16 goals I did things that I repeated before every game, they gave me confidence.

“I think that if your mind is clear from all thoughts then you can perform twice as well, because it is the head that rules over the rest of the body.

“It's paramount. If you can attain serenity, the legs follow suit.”

El Shaarawy had no comments on the rumours about his sale, but he made it clear that he was happy where he was.

“I've always been a Milan supporter, my debut at San Siro was a crazy emotion. Wearing these colours is the dream of my life.

“What really struck me when I first got here was the level of organisation of the club and the affability of all the workers.

“I remember what [Gennaro] Gattuso told me when I first set foot in Milanello: ‘All you have to do is play football, you'll never be wanting for anything else’.

“He was perfectly right, and from this point of view the club is extraordinary.

“My childhood memories are bound to the figure of [Ricardo] Kaka. He was always my idol.”
