Milan have confirmed Stephan El Shaarawy is out for two to three weeks after damaging his foot against Ajax.

The forward had been out of action for a couple of months with a micro-fracture in his left foot and suffered a knock in the same area during last night’s Champions League game.

Tests have now shown there is no new fracture, but it has caused an inflammation of the previously damaged zone.

El Shaarawy will rest for two to three weeks and visit Amsterdam for another specialist consultation with Professor Niek Van Dijk.

It effectively means his 2013 is already over and he won't play again until the New Year.

His season has been beset by injury problems, making only seven appearances between Serie A and the Champions League, including the play-offs.
