Stephan El Shaarawy says he is at the total tactical disposal of Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri. “I’ll play as the Trequartista if necessary.”

The 20-year-old prefers to play in a wide attacking role, but Allegri has switched to a narrower 4-3-1-2 system this season.

“Am I ready to play as a second striker? Of course I am,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “If there is the need for it, then I'm also ready to play as a Trequartista which I did for a bit at Padova.

“I have a very good relationship with boss Allegri, who has been concerned about my health in recent weeks.

“I’m happy that he stayed with us.”

The young Italian was a revelation in the opening half of last season, but the goals have dried up for him at San Siro.

“I'm happy with what I have done so far at Milan. I have scored goals and I have missed some. I can't complain. I feel an integral part of this project.

“I don't want to talk about goals or personal objectives,” he added. “The most important thing is the squad.

“Last year I hadn't set any objectives in terms of goals and, in the end, the goals arrived by themselves. It wouldn't be bad if the same thing happened again.”
