The Milan striker was suffering from an ankle problem following a clash with teammate Angelo Ogbonna in training yesterday.

Italy are preparing for a friendly against San Marino on Friday and a World Cup qualifier in the Czech Republic on June 7.

“As we expected, the tests showed no big problems other than heavy bruising, so we hope he can recover quickly,” explained Professor Enrico Castellacci.

“We will evaluate along with the player when to put him back in full training, because there are some very important interests at stake.

“The objective is to have him fully recovered to play in Prague and we don’t think he is at risk for that game.”

The Azzurri will then fly out to Brazil for the Confederations Cup.
