“Schick will certainly play. I am evaluating whether to put him alongside Edin Dzeko or separately. Justin Kluivert is improving and I told him he has to mess about less on the pitch, so he’s more focused and can hurt the opposition. If he manages to alternate his movements, he can make a big impression, but can give so much more.

“Javier Pastore is not in good shape and is not called up, as he has some fitness problems. Nobody has a guaranteed place, but Pastore will certainly be important for us when he recovers.

“Juan Jesus will probably start and I am not yet sure who to put alongside him, but he’s in great form and putting in some strong performances.”

Roma are once again impressing in Europe, but not delivering the same performances in Italy.

“I’ve told everyone to be more consistent. We won in the Champions League, but managed to struggle even when against 10 men. We have to win these games and finish them off, trying to take our chances and make it count when we are dominating.

“Maybe I need to play the Champions League anthem in the locker room before Serie A games, so they are all concentrated the same way…”
