Eusebio Di Francesco warns Sassuolo “enthusiasm will be fundamental” against Genk after suffering an injury crisis.

The Neroverdi won their first ever Europa League match, 3-0 over Athletic Bilbao, and now travel to Belgium tomorrow.

“Considering the conditions we are in, with so many injured players, our enthusiasm will be fundamental,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Our opponents are very dangerous in attack, so we must give everything. We know that injuries are part of the game and have interesting youngsters who want to make their mark in Europe.

“The results are coming and we’ve done so much to be ready for the start of the season. Discounting (the win against Pescara stripped because of an irregularly fielded player), we’d have 12 points in Serie A and be right behind the big clubs. That is something to be proud of.

“Gregoire Defrel is the ideal striker for my way of seeing football. He works with great humility and is at the disposal of his teammates.”

Sassuolo have a difficult test this weekend against Milan.

“We are not thinking about them until Friday. I hope the injured players can be back as soon as possible, but they certainly won’t be ready for Sunday.”
