“After going out of the Coppa Italia in absurd fashion this week, partly due to our distractions, I wanted to see a show of our maturity,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“I chose a new system that gave some important reference points. I put Lorenzo Pellegrini behind the strikers and I liked him in that position.
“Matri has improved both in his fitness levels and the way he moves.”
Sassuolo are in the midst of transfer gossip, as Roma want Defrel and Leicester City are offering €12m for defender Acerbi.
“I am a Coach, I’ve never been involved in negotiations and I never will. Obviously I don’t want to lose Acerbi and Defrel, but it’s the club that decides.
“Defrel in particular is not helped by the transfer gossip and I hope the window closes as soon as possible.”
