“The physical condition is optimal in the circumstances, we just lacked a little quality in the last match,” said the Coach of their 3-1 Europa League defeat at Genk.

“The players I actually have at my disposal are fine. I lack the option to make different choices, but at least compared to Europe I’ll also have access to those who are not on the UEFA list.

“I will tell you one thing – we’ll have someone in the initial XI who has never played from the start.”

Sassuolo beat Milan to sixth place last season and therefore qualified for the Europa League.

“It’s a packed schedule, but the English clubs play all the time and they seem fine. We need to grow and worked so hard to achieve this objective of European qualification, that we must now enjoy it.

“Aside from the difficulties due to injuries, we should be feeling very enthusiastic. If Milan have more time to prepare for this match because we’re in Europe instead of them, then I can’t really be unhappy about that.

“Vincenzo Montella is an excellent Coach, as well as a friend. I had no doubts he would improve the Rossoneri this season.”

Sassuolo were docked a victory over Pescara for fielding an ineligible player, taking them from 12 points to nine.

“Without the penalty, we’d be in third place right now. Inter spent so much money on the transfer market and yet they’ve lost two Europa League games to our one.”

Among those missing against Milan are Domenico Berardi, Stefano Sensi, Simone Missiroli, Marcello Gazzola, Paolo Cannavaro and Alessandro Matri.
