Eusebio Di Francesco thought the 2-0 Fiorentina result was harsh on Roma, but “it’s our own fault” with poor finishing and defending.

Marco Benassi and Giovanni Simeone got the goals, but the Giallorossi were unlucky after rattling the woodwork three times.

“Nothing went our way. We conceded two goals from two attempts, but it’s also our own fault, as we defended badly,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“Things aren’t going well at the moment and we have to take responsibility, because it was similar to the defeat in Barcelona. Once again, we didn’t take our chances, were not clinical in attack and then made mistakes in defence too.”

Roma rotated the squad following that 4-1 loss at Camp Nou, though above all looking ahead to the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.

“Some players can’t handle 90 minutes every three days. We put the crosses in and should analyse the performance more than just the result, because in that case we deserved more.

“We accept this defeat and can now begin thinking about Barcelona. We’re coming off two defeats where we didn’t deserve to lose heavily.

“We pushed constantly and tried everything, which also left us open to the counter-attack. When you create that much and don’t finish your chances, you have to take the blame, but it does mean we’re on the right track.”

Di Francesco and the fans are already gearing up to attempt a miracle comeback from 4-1 down against Barcelona.

“We play for this type of game, it’s what we want to experience. Before we had nothing to lose, but now I want us to have something to lose. If we are more clinical in our finishing, then we can do it.”
