“I’m in tune with Monchi,” Di Francesco shrugged when asked about the January window in his pre-Sassuolo Press conference.

“I’m not interested in talking about the transfer market now, I’m thinking about bringing home six points before the winter break.

“We’ll talk about it later, the transfer market is the last thing on my mind.”

Di Francesco will face his former side tomorrow, and he was asked how it feels to take on the Neroverdi.

“I’ve never made a declaration to thank everyone at Sassuolo, I prefer to say these things to people when I speak to them.

“I assure you it’s a beautiful love. I read interviews and get emotional all over again, just as when I see [Simone] Missiroli’s goal which won the league, because people only remember Serie A, but I also remember where we started from.

“Winning Serie B was really emotional, and I’m thankful to everyone, right down to the smallest person.

“[Current Coach Beppe] Iachini is enhancing [Cristian] Bucchi’s work. He’s a hammer, he’s given solidity to a team which was conceding goals and he’s achieving excellent results.”

The Coach also took the opportunity to demand more goals from Edin Dzeko.

“I think Inter have scored so many points thanks to [Mauro] Icardi’s goals. A friend told me a striker scores goals and a goalkeeper saves them.

“It’s essential for him to get back to scoring. He’s the player who takes the most shots in Serie A, he’s lacking a bit of luck and lucidity, but he needs to get back to scoring.

“If Dzeko only scores eight to 10 goals we won’t be able to aim for something important. I only know one way to solve this problem: motivate, motivate, motivate.

“They have to believe a little more and never stop, [Medhi] Benatia believed and he scored a goal. We need to believe a bit more, and believe that our teammate can provide a goalscoring chance.”
